Argyle Square Helicopters

For years Argyle Square has been used as a emergency landing pad for helicopters and there was helicopter shaped climbing frame in the children's playground in the square. But June 2008 council workers came and sawed down the climbing frame.

Meanwhile the ground in the middle of the square has been dug up and planted with flowers surrounded by a temporary wooden fence.

I wondered what was going to replace the helicopter climbing frame....

I couldn't believe that a climbing frame which had some local story connection could be replaced by something as bland as this..
